A Polish and Classy Thriller

Another classy, smoothen thriller from Rachel Abbott. This ane follows the incidence of a fix of murders mimicking a similar serial from a dozen years ago. Linking the two is DCI Tom Douglas of course and compared to the previous book in the series, Stranger Child, he is more prominent. It reads much more like a police drama equally a result. Still though Abbott'due south skill in gradually building the pressure and stress on her female person lead Maggie is the key to the book. The increasing fright and paranoia result in both her and Douglas feeling the estrus with the story cleverly entwining someone close to the policeman besides.

The narration of the story is very well handled by Lisa Coleman as it twists and turns its style to what I idea was an impressive conclusion. Who could anyone trust? Why were these strange and horrifying events occurring? Who was manipulating those events? Both Maggie and Tom get a thorough testing and emerge as strong characters with a varied and well detailed supporting cast. The reveals and twists that brought the novel to and cease were very satisfying.

In short this is a smooth, well written and intelligent thriller. Although it's a series I call up it would withal be very satisfying taken solitary. A stiff story and very, very well worth a credit.

Oh for God's sake, just tell the police force.

Would yous try another volume written by Rachel Abbott or narrated past Lisa Coleman?

I'm afraid not. Manner too convoluted.

Has Kill Me Again put you lot off other books in this genre?

No, because it'southward my favourite genre. Merely this book is ridiculous and cliched from offset to finish.

Concerned, determined. Professional person.

What reaction did this book spark in yous? Anger, sadness, thwarting?

Exasperation

Any boosted comments?

I'1000 sorry my first review has to exist then negative. I'm shy most reviewing, and accept loved tens of books through audible. But, honestly, if the primary character had done the sensible thing in the first 20 pages of the book, there would have been no need for the rest of it.

Whatsoever additional comments?

Quite possibly my all-time listen for quite some time. This volume has it all. Intrigue, mystery, spookiness and a real ability to draw out a range of emotions.
This story made the hairs on the back of my neck stand upwardly on more than than one occasion! the story is very gripping and its very easy to put yourself in the shoes of the master character, eliciting various emotional responses as the story progresses.
For a decent crime story, I couldn't recommend this more!

Skillful enough for three stars, merely! No spoilers!

Any additional comments?

I really similar Rachel Abbott's work, and this volume is up to her unremarkably standard in the quality of writing and menses of the story. She writes dialogue actually well, and the standard of that ofttimes makes or breaks a book for me. Despite all this, I'g struggling with this one. I'm a couple of chapters from then end and it has grated and annoyed me from quite early on on. The problem is with the master character Maggie. She is a successful Criminal Defence Lawyer. Yet, she repeatedly makes silly decisions, which, though plausible if she only had to exist concerned about her self, don't ring truthful in a female parent who is an intelligent professional women, who works in criminal law. I have given this 3 stars for the quality of the writing, and because some people won't be troubled past what spoilt it for me. However, I experienced it a two star read and I'thou not sure I can be bothered to be irritated further by finishing it.

Not a bad read but the main grapheme is completely unbelievable every bit a trained criminal lawyer making absurd decisions. Narration is quite good - simply nigh worth a credit.

Great story... Dear the narrators accent!

Well, my goodness! I didn't see this book coming at all! The storyline is merely so clever! I enjoyed the complexity that Rachel Abbott adds to her stories. She slowly peels back these layers and shows you her cards merely scrap past bit. You starting time to form these ideas in your caput for how the story is going to become but information technology doesn't go that fashion… not at all. Besides "Kill Me Once again" having this artistic and complex story, Rachel Abbott e'er gives us these characters that seem so normal, so real. She has them grappling with these insane situations that test their belief system.

The narrator, Lisa Coleman, performs the entire book which is just at 11 hours and 30 minutes. I seriously love the British narration. Her accent just pulls me in every single time. Now there is several characters in "Kill Me Once again" but even with ane narrator, I never felt similar it was hard to proceed upwards with who was who and I really jumped into the eye of this series. I accept read Sleep Tight years agone and knew I would like it but there was something about these last few books that seem so great!

One of my favorite authors

With the exception of her book Only the Innocent, I love all her books! I usually just listen while commuting to piece of work.
However, with this author that is not possible and I could not stop listening!

Kept my attending merely.....

This book kept my attention, and the footstep of the book was slap-up. The author did a wonderful chore of revealing bits and pieces of data in constructive ways. The one thing that hindered me from giving the story a higher rating was Maggie Taylor, the master graphic symbol. Ugh, Maggie was incredibly abrasive. For someone to exist such a great lawyer she acted very dimwitted. Why would you not go to the police immediately one time you started received threatening messages? At that place were numerous times where if she would take made the apparently right choices nigh of the drama she went through could have been avoided. I would recommend this book if you lot need an easy read to listen to on a plane or train ride, only I would not recommend if y'all was looking for something profound or very thought provoking.

All-time Rachel Abbott Book yet!

I consider this book to be the all-time one out of the series (then far I accept read stranger child, Sixth window , kill me again and sleep tight)

The story is super interesting and the story has you engaged from chapter 1. My favorite part about these books is finding out how all of the characters at ane point are connected. This one has you guessing from the beginning and when you remember you lot accept it all figured out, Blast! Some other plot twist! You will not be bored with this one.

A predictable plot difficult to follow

I am a big Rachel Abbot fan coupled with perfect narration of Lisa Coleman. However, I plant this particular volume hard to mind. A lot of possibilities, nuances, innuendoes and at the aforementioned fourth dimension pretty anticipated. It seems to me that Ms. Abbot overplayed a chip. Good writing, just a bit too much. Nevertheless, I am not sad I read it and volition keep on post-obit her work. If y'all like her books, this ane is ok. Not more than that.

What a Twisted Yet Interesting Story

Rachel Abbott does it once again with some other twisted story that she ingeniously puts together. This is a twisted story with twisted endings which sadly could actually be truthful. It's amazing how she comes upwardly with these bizarre stories that really can accept realistic possibilities. The volume moved forth nicely, after a lilliputian slow beginning in the first. Definitely another one I would recommend.

Good plot, Another Weak Female person

This beingness my third Rachel Abbott volume, I'm getting frustrated. Her writing is very good. Her storyline is unique and unpredictable, BUT she always seems to accept a stupid honey-blinded principal female charecter. Throughout the story I find myself getting worked upward about the gullibility and codependency these women brandish. in this book Maggie is a criminal lawyer and still she blind to the manipulation putting her children in danger.!!But also much! If yous like a strong female hero this volume isn't for you lot
